A third period comeback fell short Saturday night as the Battlefords Sharks lost on the road to the Weyburn Gold Wings 3-2 in midget female AAA hockey action.
Weyburn scored the first two goals of the game, as Shelby Firkpatrick scored with 58 seconds left in the first to give them the lead, and then Elise Endicott scored in the second to make it 2-0.
The Sharks came back in the third period. Dakota Peterson scored from Alyssa Roach and Teagan Sochaski 2:06 into the period. And then Jordan Kulbida scored unassisted with 8:04 left to tie the game at 2-2.
But Sarah Hornoi's goal on the power play with two minutes to go ultimately held up as the game winner, and the Gold Wings won 3-2.
Chloe Marshall was busy in the Sharks net on the night, stopping 29 of 32 shots.
The Sharks were scheduled to take on Weyburn again in the rematch Sunday afternoon at Crescent Point Place.
