The North Battleford midget Beavers were in action again Wednesday night at Beaver Lions Stadium against the Northwest Prairie Pirates in Sask. Premier Baseball League play, hoping to keep a recent hot streak going for the team at home.
And they succeeded, winning 6-1.
In the first inning the Beavers struck early, and often.
A hit by Gavin Nolin brought home pitcher Gavin Wourms to make it 1-0. Not long after, with the bases loaded, a hit by Brett Benoit dropped into right to score two more to make it 3-0.
Another RBI by Dylan Schaefer scored Brock Thomson from third to make it 4-0, and that was the score after one.
With the score 5-1 Beavers in the third, Kolby Heidt's RBI brought home another run to make it 6-1.
The Pirates threatened in the sixth, but a long throw to first for the third out prevented a potential Pirates run coming home from third.
The Pirates bats went cold the rest of the way, and Paul Cubbon got the final three outs preserving the win for the Beavers, with the Pirates leaving a runner on.
The midget Beavers are home again Sunday for a doubleheader against the Regina White Sox starting at 10 a.m.
