In other action in the SPHL playoffs this weekend, Edam took a 2-0 series lead over Maymont with a 2-1 win on Friday. Mitch Wall and Brent Weber had the two Edam goals; Layken Heidt scored the lone goal for Maymont. The Three Stars now have a chance to clinch the series with a win in game three Wednesday in Edam.
The Battleford Beaver Blues are on the ropes as their series with Shellbrook moves to game three next Friday in Battleford.
In Shellbrook on Friday, the Silvertips beat the Beaver Blues 6-2 for a 2-0 lead in that series. Devon Dicus and Dylan Smith each had two goal nights for Shellbrook.
Meanwhile Cut Knife drew even in their series with the top-seeded defending champion Hafford Hawks with a 7-4 home win Friday. Kenton Albert scored twice and had an assist to lead the Colts scoring on the night.
With the series lead in the balance, game three took place Saturday night in Hafford, where the Hawks prevailed 9-3. Game four is Friday in Cut Knife.
