Cole Tenetuik came within one shot of representing Canada at the 2015 World Junior Curling Championships.

In Corner Brook, Nfld., Tenetuik and his team played Team Manitoba in the finals at the Canadian Junior Men’s Curling Championships Sunday evening, with the winner heading to Estonia to represent Canada.

The game started with Manitoba picking up single points in the first and second ends, before Saskatchewan got on the board with a single in the third.

The teams exchanged points in the following two ends, before Manitoba scored a pair in the sixth to take a 5-2 lead.

Tenetuik and his team of Jake Hersikorn, Brady Kendel and Brandon Leppi quickly answered back with two points of their own in the seventh.

Defending champion skip Braden Calvert of Manitoba scored a single in the eighth to take a 6-4 lead into the ninth end, before Saskatchewan scored a pair to set up a do-or-die 10th tied at six.

With their final rock in the end, Saskatchewan tried to send their shot into the house which would have forced Manitoba to knock it out in order to secure the championship.

Manitoba already had a rock in the house, with the only other rock just outside acting as a guard for a potential final shot from Manitoba.

Unfortunately, the last rock by Saskatchewan stopped just short of the house, ending up practically right beside the guard, ending the tournament.

Calvert and his team will head to Estonia for the World Championships from Feb. 28 to March 8.
