Oct. 6, seven students from North Battleford Comprehensive High School travelled to Unity to compete in the district cross country meet. This race determined who moved on to compete at provincials in Middle Lake Saturday.

The weather was on the chilly side with a few drops of rain towards the end of the meet, but that didn't slow down the runners. NBCHS finished with five medals and two ribbons, as districts was the team's best showing so far this season. The students beat many of their previous times set earlier in the year.

In the midget girls' category, Jordin Wilkinson brought home silver.

Blake Risling, a midget boy, won gold. Blake started off the race in a sprint, and finished in a sprint, which lead him to a personal best time.

Zena Johnson and Mikaela York both competed in the senior girls age group. Mikaela won the race and Zena came in second. Last year at provincials Mikaela finished fourth and is looking to get into the medals this time around.

Liam Bassinthwaighte, Brendan Grosjean and Troy Tyndal all competed as senior boys. Troy received second place, Brandan fourth and Liam 10th.

All seven racers will be heading to Middle Lake.
