The Battlefords North Stars held their annual general meeting and a board was put in place for the upcoming season. The each departments of the hockey club presented a short statement from the past season.

On the financial side of things, the North Stars net operating loss was $127,198.90. That mark is nearly $3,600 off the mark of the 2008-09 season. With the agricultural project taking a hit on the finance sheet of over $30,000 and the Comedy Night and Hockey School also showing losses compared to last season, the hockey club's playoffs run and the Hot Stove Lounge helped make up in the areas that were down this season.

The first vice-president Darren Huxley presented the president's message, coach's message and billets report thanking the board members for their work, the fans for their support and the sponsors for being a backbone of the team in the Battlefords.

Elections for the eight open board positions were held. Returning to the board and filling two-year terms was Kara Rosen, Cheri Lynch, Brett Payne, Ray Adelman and Shandon Reichert. Former North Stars' Steven Nelson and Fraser Donahue were the newcomers to the board. Nelson stepped in to fill an open spot in April and was voted in officially this time around.

Victor Tomanek was voted in and will hold the one-year term.

The executive will look similar to last season. Adelman will once again hold the title of president and alternate governor. Huxley is back as the first vice-president. Reichert steps in the as the second vice-president. Lynch will once again be the team's treasurer with Debbie Prescesky once again holding the secretary's job. Stew Demmans will be the governor.

Other directors who remained on the board for the second year of their terms include Troy Slywka, Glenn Roberts and Bryan Nylander.

As far as league news, which was presented by Demmans, camp starts Sept. 3 and the season starts Sept. 18.

There will be one rule adjustment to icings. Weyburn will hold the 2010 Showcase Tournament and Humboldt is set to host the 2010 Royal Bank Cup.

Battlefords North Stars season tickets are now available and the early bird deadline is July 15.
