North Stars among the best in the league

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League released its list of players of the week and there was no shortage of Battlefords North Stars.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League released its list of players of the week and there was no shortage of Battlefords North Stars.

Graham Hildebrand was named the goaltender of the week after winning both his starts and pitching a shutout in one of them. Hildebrand's goals against average for the week was 0.50. His impressive performance helped the North Stars jump on to the CJHL's top 20 weekly rankings and grab first place in the SJHL.

Alex Rajotte from La Ronge, Brandon Stone of Estevan and Jesse Wilkins of Melfort earned honour mentions in the goaltender category for the week.

The player of the week was Jesse Ross of Weyburn, who had five goals and one assist in three games.

Earning honourable mentions were the North Stars top two scorers Blake Tatchell and Braeden Johnson along with Weyburn's Coltyn Sanderson and Keegan Bruce. Tatchell leads the team with 22 points in 16 games while Johnson has recorded 20 points in 14 games.

David Haaf of Kindersley was named the SJHL defenceman of the week after recording two goals and three assists in three games.

Honourable mentions for this week were former North Star and current Estevan Bruin Dominic Perrault, Carter Struthers of Weyburn and Connor Milligan of Estevan.

The North Stars and Nipawin are the only two SJHL teams on the CJHL rankings this week, as Nipawin moved from 13th to 18th while the North Stars jumped onto the list at 15th after an honourable mention last week.
