The SJHL has been hit with a rash of cancellations in 2022 due to COVID-19.

THE BATTLEFORDS - The rash of COVID-19 postponements that have gripped the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in recent days has finally impacted the Battlefords North Stars.

It’s been announced that next Tuesday’s home game versus Nipawin Hawks has been postponed. It is not known yet on what date the game will be made up.

The reason is positive COVID-19 cases among the Hawks. Nipawin has paused its team activities, resulting in other postponements including a Jan. 8 contest with the Yorkton Terriers and a Jan. 12 game with the Kindersley Klippers. Those games will also be rescheduled.

So far, nine SJHL games have had to be postponed or rescheduled due to COVID-19 positive tests on a number of teams.

The North Stars are still a go for their Friday night home game versus the Melville Millionaires. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Access Communications Centre.

The North Stars also are scheduled to go to Humboldt for a game Saturday night.
