North Stars’ McNinch, Klimosko earn SJHL awards

Klimosko named Coach of the Year, McNinch named Most Sportsmanlike Player.

THE BATTLEFORDS - Two members of the Battlefords North Stars have been announced as well-deserving recipients of league-wide SJHL awards.

Ryland McNinch has been named SGEU Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year. McNinch was captain of the Battlefords North Stars in 2021-22. In 52 games McNinch posted 17 goals and 25 assists for 42 points, with only 20 penalty minutes.

Brayden Klimosko has been named Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association Coach of the Year.

Klimosko coached the North Stars to the Canalta Cup title in 2019, and to the league’s best record in 2020 before the season was shut down by COVID-19.

This year under Klimosko, the North Stars had another winning season, finishing as the fourth seed in the overall standings.

This is not the first time Klimosko earned Coach of the Year honors, after sharing the award with La Ronge coach Kevin Kaminski in 2020.
