THE BATTLEFORDS - The Battlefords North Stars have a rare weekend away from home as they hit the road to play the Nipawin Hawks this Friday night.

In fact it is the start of a lengthy stretch away from home for the North Stars, who won’t be back at the Access Communications Centre for the rest of November.

After Nipawin, the North Stars go on a southeast road swing to Notre Dame next Thursday, and then Estevan on Friday and Weyburn next Saturday.

The North Stars next home game is not until Dec. 4, to Notre Dame.

Lately it has been a good stretch of games for the North Stars on the ice. They enter this weekend on a four-game winning streak, and are coming off a 4-1 win at home last Saturday night at Access Communications Centre.

A key member of the team during that winning streak has been the North Stars goalie, Michael Harroch. Harroch was named SJHL Goaltender of the Week this week after letting in only one goal against Kindersley last Friday and one against Nipawin Saturday, turning away 49 shots in two games.

On the statistical side, Jake Southgate leads the team in scoring with 11 goals and 12 assists. Close behind are Dylan Esau with five goals and 16 assists and Steven Kesslering with nine goals and 11 assists.

The Source Embroidery Power Rankings have pegged the North Stars in fourth spot in the league rankings, behind Estevan, Humboldt and Flin Flon. In terms of points, the North Stars rank third in the league with a record of 14-6-1-1 for 30 points, four behind league-leading Humboldt.
