The Battlefords North Stars hit the ice Monday, or at least some of the players and coaching staff did. The North Stars hosted their Future Stars Hockey Camp Aug. 25 to 29. Several players were on the ice, in the classroom, doing dry-land activities and happy to be back at the Civic Centre working with the up-and-coming players in the community.

After a break from hosting the hockey camp and turning over the reins to SHA, the Battlefords North Stars were excited to present a hockey camp once again. The camp was well received by the Battlefords and surrounding communities as 50 players registered in the novice, atom and peewee levels.

All the players receive jerseys and plenty of one-on-one time with the players and coaches of the Battlefords North Stars.

"We are thrilled to offer this development opportunity to local and area players," said Battlefords North Stars head coach and general manager Kevin Hasselberg. "This is one of many steps to ensure we are actively participating to enhance the development of young hockey players in this region."

The North Stars are also hosting prep camp for bantam, midget and junior players to prepare for the upcoming season in the evening this week.

Hockey season is here. Get your skates sharpened and strap on the helmet for another exciting season.
