NORTH BATTLEFORD - The Battlefords North Stars took the first of back to back home games against the Weyburn Red Wings on Tuesday night.

The North Stars beat the Red Wings 3-0, in a game in which they thoroughly shut down the opposition. The final shots favored the North Stars 45-24, earning the North Stars' goaltender Austin Schwab the shutout.

The Red Wings, however, stayed in the game most of the way. The game remained scoreless until the 3:25 mark of the second period when Dylan Esau beat Dazza Mitchell to make it 1-0 on a power play goal, with Zane Florence assisting.

The North Stars extended the lead when Matthew Henry scored from Evan Waldie and Ty Bahm at the 3:23 mark of the third period. An empty net goal by Esau at 19:03 wrapped up the scoring.

The two teams go at it again Wednesday night at Access Communications Centre, game time is 7:30 pm.
