The Wilkie Outlaws will call a new league home for the upcoming 2014-15 hockey season.
The Outlaws are leaving the NSRHL as the two-time defending champions to join the Sask West Hockey League.
The team said they would have a more convenient travel schedule in the SWHL. Wilkie joins the defending champion Unity Miners, Eatonia Huskies, Kerrobert Tigers, Kindersley Red Lions, Lloydminster Border Kings and Luseland-Dodsland Mallards.
Another consideration was the provincial playoffs. They classify as a provincial C based on population, yet were consistently playing teams in the D category.
The team also said there were new rules being added to the NSRHL that would make players from Wilkie ineligible to play for the Outlaws.
The SWHL typically starts their exhibition schedule in late October.
