It's safe to say the Wilkie Outlaws have adjusted to play in the Sask West Hockey League.

The Outlaws won both of their games last weekend, improving their record to 4-0.

They started their weekend with a 6-3 win over the Macklin Mohawks in Wilkie.

The Outlaws jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. Rory Gregoire opened the scoring 3:01 into the frame. Then, with 10:58 to play in the period, Mike Sittler scored Wilkie's second goal.

In the second period, Sittler and Gregoire each scored another goal, extending the Outlaws' lead to four. With 2:44 left in the frame, Dustan Heintz got Macklin on the board with 2:44 to play.

The Mohawks scored twice early in the third period. Less than three minutes into the frame, Dustin Bast cut the lead to two. Cody McKinnon added a goal 5:31 into the period to make it a 4-3 game.

But the Outlaws responded with two more goals to put the game out of reach. Rick Cey and Mitch Sutton found the back of the net to give Wilkie the 6-3 win.

Jared Herle made 15 saves in the win for the Outlaws. Catlin Schneider stopped 29 shots in a losing effort for the Mohawks.

The Outlaws followed up Saturday night with a 7-3 win a home against the Biggar Nationals.

The Unity Miners got their first win of the season Friday night. They doubled the Nationals 10-5 in Biggar.

Brett Mosher and Behn Robertson scored within 15 seconds to give Unity a 2-0 lead. Matt Bourgeois got Biggar on the board with 12:44 left in the first. Unity scored twice more in the opening frame. Robertson got his second of the game and Michael Shirley added the Miners' fourth goal.

Shirley added a goal on the power play less than five minutes into the second to put the Miners up 5-1. Then, Mosher got his second of the game with 13:46 to play. Biggar answered back with goals from Tyson Wuttunee and Clark McNulty to make the score 6-3 Unity. Shirley completed his hat trick for the Miners with less than eight minutes to play. Biggar cut into the lead again with Wuttunee's second goal, a shorthanded marker with 5:33 left. Unity's Rhett Lacousiere finished the period's scoring with 4:54 remaining, giving the Miners a 7-4 lead heading into the third period.

Kevin Fick got the Nationals back within two goals with a power-play marker 3:21 into the final frame. Then, Unity iced the game with two more goals. Adam Shirley scored twice to make it a 10-5 win for the Miners.

Unity lost their next game Saturday night. They were edged 5-4 by the Mohawks in Macklin.

The Luseland/Dodsland Mallards were in action Saturday night. They beat the Huskies 9-5 at the Eatonia Memorial Arena.

After two weeks of play, the Outlaws (4-0) are on top of the North Division. Macklin (1-1) and Unity (1-2) are tied for second. Biggar (0-4) occupies the bottom of the division.

In the South Division, the Kindersley Red Lions (1-0), Luseland/Dodsland (1-0) and Eatonia (1-2) are in a three-way tie for first place. The Kerrobert Tigers have yet to play a game.

There are only three games in the SWHL this weekend. Friday night sees the Mallards in Wilkie to take on the Outlaws and the Mohawks travel to Kindersley for a match up with the Red Lions. Both games start at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday night's lone game is the Macklin Mohawks hosting Biggar. Puck drop is 8 p.m.
