School break offers a variety of activity for kids that may include just  enjoying some school free home time or a family vacation but five girls from  Unity and Wilkie travelled to Las Vegas, Nevada to play in a  tournament with their winter softball team, 222 Fastpitch.

The U14 girls team included Unity players Mackenna Vany, Morgan Mock and Wilkie  gal Josey Huber.  Winning and losing were part of the weekend where their  outcome was a loss in the "B" semifinals of the event.  It's still an  impressive showing considering they are playing teams that play on ball  diamonds year round, rather than travelling all over the province to  practise with other team members in indoor venues.  Of course the Las Vegas  sunshine was a bonus.  The girls are done tournament play for this season  and will be well prepared for their upcoming summer ball season.

The U16 girls from Unity included Samatha David and Marina Gampe.  Both of  these "222 Fastpitch" teams are based out of Saskatchewan under the coaching  staff of Keith Mackintosh, two-time Olympian Erin Cumpstone as well as Team  Canada men's player Dean Holhein.  Thirty-two teams competed in the U16 "A" division  from all over the states and another team from British Columbia.  The U16 girls finished  third in round robin moving them to consolation side, eventually losing out in  the silver side consolation finals, placing a respectable 8/32 overall.
