The Battlefords AAA Sharks were trying to carry the momentum of their first win of the season into Tuesday's game, but that wasn't the case.

The Sharks hosted the Saskatoon Stars in Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League action in what was their final game before the holiday break.

The Stars scored first, as Kennedy Harris netted a power play goal on Rachel Mitchell.

The Sharks quickly responded. Ten seconds after the centre ice faceoff, Delaney Ross scored her team leading fourth goal of the season to draw the Sharks even.

In the next four minutes Saskatoon scored three more goals forcing a goaltender change for the Sharks, as Jacy Akre replaced Mitchell.

The Stars scored once more in the first period on a power play to lead 5-1 after 20 minutes, as Jaycee Gebhard scored twice while Emily Clark, and Nicole Goebel were the other Stars' goal scorers in the first frame.

Harris scored the lone goal in the second period for Saskatoon, as they out shot the Sharks 31-7 heading into the third period.

In the third, both teams found the back of the net, first it was Kelsey Thiessen scoring for the Stars then defenceman Rachel Trach scored her first of the season from Jetta Derenoski and Malory Roy for the Battlefords.

Akre stopped 30 of 33 shots in the relief effort in the Sharks' net, as Sara Olson stopped 17 shots for the 7-2 win.

The Sharks now have 25 days between games, as they will look to improve on the 1-15-0-0 record from the first half of the season.
