The Battlefords AAA Sharks took a depleted roster to Saskatoon to take on the Stars Saturday.

Despite being outshot 51-8 and out scored 8-2, the Sharks' 13 skaters gave it what they could against one of the premiere teams in the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League.

The Stars scored the game's first goal just over one minute in. The Sharks' Delaney Ross answered back 13 seconds later with her sixth of the season, which was assisted by Shayna Thomas and Rachel Trach.

Saskatoon reclaimed the lead later in the first period and added their third goal on a poweplay to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission. The Sharks held their own in the shot column as they trailed 11-6, after 20 minutes.

In the second, the Stars scored another early goal, their second powerplay goal, but again the Sharks responded seconds later. This time it was Kaeli Cross scoring her first of the season from Kendra Gerbig and Taylor Durocher.

The Stars added their third powerplay goal later in the second and led 5-3 heading into the third period.

Saskatoon scored three more in the third period to take the 8-2 win.

Hannah Brock had a strong game in net while facing 51 shots in from the Stars. Summer Roberts stopped six shots for the win. The Stars were 3/7 on the powerplay while the Sharks were 0/1.

The win for the Stars put them at 12-3-0-0 on the season and in first place. The Sharks record is 0-13-2-0.

The next games for the Sharks don't appear to be any easier, as they play the undefeated Notre Dame Hounds Saturday and Sunday at the Battleford Arena. The Hounds are 11-0-0-0 this season. After that it will be time for some fun, as the Sharks will share the ice with the Battlefords North Stars for their annual Christmas charity game Dec. 7 at Battleford Arena.
