Sharks run out of steam against Stars

The Battlefords AAA Sharks scored the first goal of the weekend in their weekend trip to Saskatoon against the Stars, but their wasn't any more offence after that.

The Sharks' Delaney Ross scored her second goal of the season from Malory Roy Saturday, but that lead held up for just 25 seconds.

Saskatoon scored two goals in the first period of Saturday's game, four in the second and three more in the third period to take the 8-1 win.

The Stars continued that momentum Sunday scoring 13 more and shutting out the Sharks.

Saturday, Jacy Akre faced 54 shots in the loss, while Sara Olson stopped 12 of 13 shots for the win

Saskatoon's Kennedy Harris led the Stars' attack with four points Saturday while Lauren Zary became the fifth highest scoring player in Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League history, as she passed the 100 mark with a goal and two assists against the Sharks.

Zary added to her total Sunday with six assists, as 13 of the 18 Stars on the roster recorded a point Sunday.

The Sharks had just 10 players on their roster Sunday and were outshot 49-9. Akre and Rachel Mitchell split time for the Stars, as Mitchell suffered the loss after allowing seven goals on 28 shots. Akre stopped 15 of the 21 shots she faced Sunday.

Saskatoon sits on top of the SFMAAAHL standings with a 10-2-0-0 record. The Sharks are eighth with a 0-8-0-0 mark.

The Sharks host the 8-3-1-0 Weyburn Golden Wings Saturday and Sunday at Battleford Arena.
