Slow week keeps Twins atop NSRBL standings

It was a slow week in the NSRBL with the holiday weekend, keeping a light six-game schedule. There was one game June 25. The Flyers edged the St. Walburg Reds 9-8 in Mervin. Four games were on the schedule June 26.

It was a slow week in the NSRBL with the holiday weekend, keeping a light six-game schedule.

There was one game June 25. The Flyers edged the St. Walburg Reds 9-8 in Mervin.

Four games were on the schedule June 26. The Lloydminster Twins held on to first place with a 5-1 road win over the Midwest Expos. Wilkie's offence exploded as the Brewers blew out the Lakers 18-5 in Standard Hill. In St. Walburg, the Macklin Lakers won 3-2 over the Reds. The host Meadow Lake Sox shut out the North Battleford Beavers 3-0.

The final game of the week was June 27 in North Battleford. The Beavers doubled up the Unity Cardinals 4-2.

There is no change at the top of the standings as the Twins (9-0-1) hold a half-game lead over the Meadow Lake Sox (10-2) for first place in the NSRBL standings. The Border City Blue Jays (8-2) are in third, 3.5 games back of first place.

The Midwest Expos (6-4) hold on to fourth place, edging the fifth place Unity Cardinals (5-4). The North Battleford Beavers (4-6), winners of four of their last six, are in sixth place.

The bottom half of the standings begin with a three-way tie for seventh place. The Edam Blue Sox, Standard Hill Lakers and Macklin Lakers have matching 3-6 records. The Wilkie Brewers (2-6-1) comes in at 10th place, followed by the Mervin Flyers (2-7) and the St. Walburg Reds (2-8).
