The City of North Battleford is thanking those who help families skate for free.
At a press conference at the Civic Centre Monday, Mayor Ian Hamilton along with communicatons manager for the City of North Battleford James Risdon expressed their appreciation for local sponsors.
Year after year, the City has been able to count on sponsors to allow the program to run, and assist those who may not otherwise be able to take part because of financial reasons.
"Skating with friends and family is such a freeing thing to do that I'm very happy to see we in North Battleford have the positive community spirit to make programs like this available for everyone," says Hamilton. "I would like to thank all our sponsors for their generosity and sense of civic responsibility. You make our community a better place."
This year's sponsors included: Bonaventure Lions Club, North Battleford Lions Club, Kiwanis Club of the Battlefords, North Battleford Kinsmen Club, The Royal Canadian Legion Branch, North West Hockey Development, Rotary Club of the Battlefords, North Battleford Elks Club, and St. Josephs Knights of Columbus.
The support from these groups allows residents to enjoy free skating Monday evenings and Wednesday mornings at the Civic Centre, and Thursday mornings and afternoons at the Don Ross Arena.
