Sunday afternoon, the Battlefords Midget Stars celebrated their third win of the season, as they beat the Regina Pat Canadians and their coach, former Battlefords North Stars coach, Norm Johnston.

The Battlefords Midget Stars earned a split on home ice and now have won two of their last three games heading into Tuesday's action.

The Stars were much more disciplined Sunday, as apposed to Saturday's game and it paid off for the home team in the second of two Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League games against the Regina Pat Canadians.

Saturday, the Stars fell behind early after Regina scored on a power play in the first period with a goal by Mitch Lipon.

Regina scored three goals in the second period coming off the sticks of Zach Zborosky, Lipon and Tyson Predinchuk giving them a commanding 4-0 lead.

Kihisis Derocher scored for the Stars five minutes into the third period from Eric Pfeifer and Brody Tatchell to get the Stars on the board.

Four minutes later, the Stars scored on the power play, as Carter Danczak capitalized on a Tatchell pass for his ninth goal of the season.

Predinchuk scored with three minutes left to spoil the comeback effort and give Regina a 5-2 win.

The Stars had 16 shots in the game, as Travis Pelletier earned the win. Blair Mahon faced 47 shots in the loss.

The next day, the Stars were shorthanded only three times compared to eight Saturday, while Regina was shorthanded six times Sunday.

Although the Stars didn't capitalize on the power play they were able to contain the Regina offence and hold them to just two goals.

Nigel Detbrenner-Rempel started the game for the Stars and stopped eight of nine shots in the first period, but with the Stars' trailing 1-0 Mahon started the second period and went on to earn his first win of the season.

With three minutes remaining in the second period, Derocher scored two goals on nice dekes to put the Stars in front 2-1.

Danczak drew two assists while Tatchell assisted on Derocher's first of the game and fifth of the season.

The Pat Canadians responded with 40 seconds remaining in the second period and the game was knotted at 2-2 heading into the third period.

Midway through the period, Brock Weston picked off a pass in the neutral zone and moved over the Regina blue-line. Weston took a slapshot that beat goalie Casey. The goal was Weston's first in his rookie season and it held up to be the game-winning goal, as the Stars held on for the 3-2 win.

Mahon stopped 16 of 17 shots to improve Battlefords' record to 3-19-0-0. The Stars were schedule to play in Saskatoon Tuesday against the Contacts and Saturday and Sunday in Tisdale against the second place Trojans.
