The Battlefords Midget Stars hosted the Notre Dame Argos twice on the weekend and skated away with a win and a loss against the seventh place Argos.
Sunday, Nigel Rempel was in net for the Stars and stopped 38 of 39 shots to give the Stars their second win of the season.
Austin Duzan started the scoring for the Stars, as he netted his first goal of the season from Ashton Clark.
Five minutes later, Brody Tatchell scored his team leading ninth goal of the season from Brock Weston and Carter Danczak.
The next shift, Notre Dame answered with a goal and the Stars led 2-1 after the first period.
Clark increased the Stars' lead in the second with his second of the season from Drew Soderberg. Tyson Empey hit the empty net in the third period in the final minute to secure the win, as Regan Yew drew the assist.
Saturday, both the Argos and Stars fired a barrage of shots at the net, Blair Mahon faced 43 in the Stars' net while Frank Cundiff faced 35 shots.
A strong first period by the Argos sealed the fate of the Stars, as the Argos scored 1:16 into the game and three other first period goals to lead 4-0 at the break.
Drew Soderberg was the Stars' lone goal scorer with his second of the season on the power play from Clark and Empey in the second period.
The Argos scored once again in the third period to seal the 5-1 win.
One note from Saturday's game is that captain Blake Young left the game with a suspected neck injury, but after being checked out at the hospital he was okay and able to play Sunday.
The win was the Stars' second of the season, as they improved to 2-18-0-0.
Next for the Stars is a home stand again the 4-11-2-1 Regina Pat Canadians Saturday and Sunday.
