Wilkie undefeated in NSRHL play

The Wilkie Outlaws continued their undefeated march through the rest of the NSRHL last week. Wilkie earned an 8-3 win over the Tigers in Turtleford Friday night. Rick Cey led the way for the Outlaws with a goal and three assists.

The Wilkie Outlaws continued their undefeated march through the rest of the NSRHL last week.

Wilkie earned an 8-3 win over the Tigers in Turtleford Friday night. Rick Cey led the way for the Outlaws with a goal and three assists. Brett Schell and Mike Sittler had two goals apiece for Wilkie, with Robert Keller, Mark Lorenz and Mitch Suchan also finding the back of the net. Adam Schwark scored twice and Justin Hougham added a goal for the Tigers.

St. Walburg kept pace with the Outlaws Friday night. The Eagles defeated the Meadow Lake Stampeders 6-3 in St. Walburg. Curtis Zerr led the team with two goals in the win. Trevor Bailey, Randy Larre, Sheldon Williamson and Brent Wilson also scored for the Eagles. Meadow Lake's goal scorers were DJ King, Lee Ludwig and Matt Luster.

The Eagles dropped a game Tuesday night. St. Walburg fell to the Meadow Lake Stampeders 9-2 to hand the Eagles their first loss of the season.

Elsewhere in the NSRHL, the Edam 3 Stars beat the Maidstone Jets at home 5-2 Friday night. The Jets also lost Saturday night. They fell 8-5 to the Meadow Lake Stampeders.

Wilkie is first in the NSRHL after winning all six games. St. Walburg (5-1) is two points behind the Outlaws in second. Meadow Lake (3-4) is third in league standings. Edam (2-3) is in fourth, followed by Maidstone and Turtleford, who have only won one game each.

Play continues this weekend. Wilkie and St. Walburg play Friday night in a showdown of the league's top two teams. Edam hosts Meadow Lake Friday as well.

Saturday night's action includes St. Walburg travelling to Maidstone to take on the Jets and Edam welcomes Turtleford into town.
