JACKSON - Donald Robert Jackson, age 82, of Battleford, SK passed away August 31, 2011. The Funeral Service was held Saturday, September 3, 2011 from the Chapel of Sallows and McDonald - Wilson and Zehner Funeral Home, North Battleford, SK with Reverend Joye Platford officiating. The organist for the Service was Mrs. Doreen Gilles. Hymns sung were "Rock of Ages" and "Amazing Grace", the song "My Grandpa Told Me So" was also played during the Service. The piper was Mr. Jim Ramsay. Active pallbearers were Chris Odishaw, Larry Houle, nephews Eric and Andrew Jackson, Ken Kam and Kirk Johnston. Left to mourn his passing are his daughters Linda (Garry) Hart and Heather Jackson (Bernd), and son Robert (Laura): Ebonie, all of North Battleford, SK. Don is survived by three grandchildren Kimberly (Stephen) Bruynooghe of Whitecourt, AB and their children Keylee and Kiara; Trevor Hart (Tara) of Grand Prairie, AB and their daughter Jordana Isabel; and Jamie Jackson of North Battleford, SK. He was predeceased by his wife Isabel, parents Levi and Muriel Jackson, his brother Gerald, his sisters-in-law Helen Fraser and Ursala Fraser, and his brothers-in-law Doug Creamer, Hugh Fraser and Tommy Fraser. The late Mr. Jackson was born in Saskatoon on October 5, 1928. Don loved bagpipe music and was one of the founding members as well as the bass drummer in the North Battleford Pipe Band. Don was employed at Vogol's Upholstery Shop in Saskatoon for twelve years and later became the Head of the Upholstery Department at the Saskatchewan Hospital, a position which he held for 27 years. His wife Isabel's illness led to early retirement from the Saskatchewan Hospital, but as Don missed Upholstering he accepted employment with Battleford Furniture and Guy's Furniture in North Battleford. Don was a member of Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Association as well as the Battleford Legion. Don especially loved visiting his friends for coffee and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Interment took place at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, North Battleford.
