SCHWINGENSCHLOEGL: In Loving Memory and Celebration of Emma Schwingenschloegl's home going December 9, 1924 - August 15, 2011 Emma was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, the fourth child of Arno and Margaret Morgenstern. In 1925, she moved with her parents to Maidstone. In 1932, the family moved to Loon Lake where she spent her early life. In 1945, Emma became the wife of Raymond John Schwingenschloegl from Makwa, SK. Emma was the mother of four children: Brenda, Gerald, Paul, and Martha. She had eight grandchildren: Lila, Gerald Jr., Valerie, Bonnie, David, Bradley, Barry, and Jeffrey. David and Jeffrey went on to be with the Lord. Emma also had six great grandchildren: Kendra, David, Oakley, Kaidance, Emmaleigh, and April. Emma accepted the Lord Jesus at a Daily Vacation Bible School as a young girl. She was baptized in Makwa Lake in 1957 after a camp meeting. She spent her life involved serving the Lord by volunteering in many church activities. Emma and Raymond resided on a farm in the Makwa district, and she loved working hard with her husband and family. For many years Emma and Raymond fostered several children while living on the farm. In 1975, Emma and Raymond moved to North Battleford. Shortly after moving there, Emma opened her home as a group home taking care of mentally challenged patients until her retirement. In January 2000, Emma had a stroke. Shortly thereafter, she became a resident of River Heights Lodge. During her years at the Lodge, she brought much joy to all that had the privilege of getting to know her. Her singing could even be heard during the wee hours of the night. Emma loved the following: reading the Bible, singing, music, playing her mouth organ, cooking at bible camps, swimming, playing ball, gardening, baking, picking berries, travelling, camping, visiting with family and friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to her, and she loved spending time with them. When they entered the room, her face lit up. Whenever she had the opportunity of holding the newest additions to the family (great grandchildren), there was such pleasure expressed by her. She is predeceased by her father Arno in 1963; brother John in 1968; mother Margaret in 1974; stepbrother Henry in 1979; brother-in-law Art Hinke in 1988; stepbrother Alvin in 1991; brother-in-law Clare Ronald in 1995; and sister Clara in 2002. Emma is survived by her husband Raymond Schwingenschloegl; children: Brenda (Max) Uhrman, Gerald Schwingenschloegl and partner June Neale, Paul (Karen) Schwingenschloegl, and Martha Philippe; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Lila Schwingenschloegl; Gerald Jr. (Tammy) Schwingenschloegl and their children Kendra, David, Oakley, and Valerie; Bonnie (Allan) McCullough and their children Kaidance and Emmaleigh; Barry Uhrman and his child April; Bradley Uhrman; brothers Allan (Evelyn) and Eddie Morgenstern; sisters Nellie Ronald and Selma Hinki; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service was held on Saturday, August 20 from the Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Millard officiating. Interment took place at the Town of Battleford Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations in Emma's memory may be made to Gideon Bible, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
