In response to "Memorable weekend enjoyed" (Regional Optimist, July 16) Ms. Gardiner's ill considered comment "Boots to all former staff who live in the Battlefords and area who didn't put in an appearance," many of us "locals" in our mid to late 70s, 80s and above have medical issues. Some may have long planned family reunions, weddings or other events to attend.
One does not unthinkingly give a "boot" to those who served their profession with dedication and care for many years. Their circumstances or reasons for not attending are varied and apply in all reunions, but in no way should they be dismissed so carelessly with absolutely no knowledge of their circumstances.
