Dear Editor
As a recent visitor to North Battleford, I had the opportunity to attend the longest continuous music festival in Canada, still providing opportunities for performance competition after 83 years.
I attended sessions in musical theatre, instruments, solo singing and choir singing with participants ranging in age from five to 70. I was impressed by the talent and musical abilities of the many participants. The hard work of the music students, teachers, accompanists and adjudicators was highly evident. I am also grateful to the parents who pay for the lessons and encourage their sons and daughters as they practise and grow in their craft.
I commend the Kiwanis Club, the individual event sponsors and the volunteers for their support. Without them I know this festival would not take place.
It struck me that on many occasions the event was attended by family members only. I recommend the festival to all the folks in the Battlefords area. You will be delighted if you seize the opportunity to attend this jewel in your midst. Bravo to the music festival.
