Dear Editor
Upon reading “Council gives thumbs down to parking lot” published in the Regional Optimist Aug. 23, 2018, I feel compelled to comment. The planning department made a bad decision based on wrongheaded thinking. I spoke to the head of planning and was told that a parking lot would hamper future development opportunities. How an owner would rather have a parking lot over a full commercial development can only be conjured up by a bureaucrat that must have an alternate motive.
May I suggest the city work with the well-meaning investors we have within the community. Do not erect unnecessary barriers. All reasons presented in the attempt to justify this reasoning were groundless.
