Dear Editor
Maybe the Ritz should shower some of that wrath of his on his government (Vic's View, Regional Optimist, Feb. 13). The Ritz's government just shut down the Veterans Affairs office in Saskatoon and transferred the veteran clients to the Regina Veterans Affairs office.
The Veterans Affairs office in Saskatoon handled well over 4,000 veteran clients. The office in Saskatoon had 11 employees. The office in Regina had over 4,000 veteran clients and 10 employees before the transfer of more than 4,000 Veteran Clients from the Saskatoon office.
The Ritz's government is adding one employee to the Regina office to handle the more than 4,000 added veteran clients transferred from the Saskatoon office. And at the very same time, telling us our veterans will receive better service after the closing of the Saskatoon office. What? Where was the Ritz when this was occurring?
The movement of grain is stalled and it has led to a serious crisis in the farm community. The Canadian Wheat Board did play a very important logistical role in the movement of our farmer's grain. As well, the CWB was a strong and effective "voice" and/or advocate for the farmer. The Ritz killed the Canadian Wheat Board.
Was it not just over a year ago the Ritz was on a grain farm down by Kindersley telling us "marketing freedom" was the answer to everything? I really do think the Ritz better get his rear in gear, and get the farmers' grain moving.
