Dear Editor
A white piece of paper, hanging on the bulletin board in the Neilburg post office lobby, caught my eye. Upon closer inspection, I discovered it was an open "letter" addressed "To The Village of Neilburg, Councelors (sic) and Staff," dated Jan. 8, 2014.
Although the writer had several good points, the missive was not signed with a name - only the pseudonym "An Angry Tax Payer."
If the person who composed the letter had been brave enough to sign their name, the information would have carried significantly more weight. The letter could also have been published in various newspapers as a "letter to the editor." Although I have made inquiries, I have not yet been able to discover the name of the unknown writer.
To the individual who wrote the letter, I would encourage you to stand up for your convictions and sign your name. You and others like you can make a difference in government, both locally and at other levels, if you allow your voice to be heard and are willing to step up to the plate as a volunteer within your community. You could even consider running for office when nominations are called for the next local elections in 2016.
Change can come with even a single person offering a new direction and sharing their wisdom with others.
It's something to think about.
