Like, what's that mean?

Dear Editor Recently I was at a gathering of young and older people and was paying attention to the opinions of the younger ones. I noticed every second word was a four letter one - not swearing, but "like." Like this, Like that, like a Chevy, etc.

Dear Editor

Recently I was at a gathering of young and older people and was paying attention to the opinions of the younger ones. I noticed every second word was a four letter one - not swearing, but "like." Like this, Like that, like a Chevy, etc.

Never once does the word like add anything meaningful to the sentence.
