New tourist information centre location has flaws

Dear Editor

While it might be nice to have visitors to the Battlefords call in at the wildlife centre on Valley Road to view the exhibits, it is not an accessible or obvious place at which to stop, especially for RVers.

If travelling from the east to the west along Highway 16 one would not pass this location at all and so signs will have to be placed directing the tourists along south Railway Avenue to the Don Ross corner and thence across the north bound traffic and down the hill. It would be difficult for large RVs to come along Railway Avenue and turn at the "cinema" corner.

If travelling from the west or the south, visitors will have to be directed across the southbound lane of Highway 4 below King Hill. This is a blind spot and difficult to cross when traffic is speeding down from the underpass.

The other problem in dry weather is the amount of dust created by the gravel trucks as they pass the wildlife centre.

It is hoped, therefore, that this is a temporary relocation for the visitors centre and that a much more visible and safe site can be found.
