Dear Editor
In John Cairns' account of the Ritz fundraiser in Lloydminster ("Big names turn out for Ritz fundraiser," Regional Optimist, Dec. 26) Monte Solberg calls Justin Trudeau inexperienced and claims he hasn't achieved a thing in his life, his words just dripping with "class."
Does Solberg not remember Stephen Harper never did hold down a real job between the time he got out of high school and into politics? Should Trudeau have tried ostrich farming before politics?
Next it was Jason Kenney's turn, first twisting Justin Trudeau's China remarks into a pretzel, then assuring everybody the Senate scandal was nothing to fret about, while in the same breath, telling his audience Justin Trudeau had no morals! Speaking of morals, did he also reassure everybody the vote rigging conspiracy and Harper's role in the senate scandal were just mere blips on the radar screen?
Yes, it was quite a night, you could cut its absurdity with a knife. Gosh, how can someone sit there and listen to Solberg and Kenney talk like that? Sadly though, like a bad hangover, reality raised it's ugly head the next morning.
And the Americans were still labelling meat, Indian Head tree nursery was still shut down, grain prices were still in the tank, stamps were going up and service down, veterans were still being mistreated, the wonderful PFRA pasture program was still being trashed, the movement of grain was still slowly creeping along, Harper still had not looked us straight in the eye and told us the truth about his role in the senate scandal, and lo and behold, Justin Trudeau was still leading Harper in the polls.
