Recycling not an option in rural areas

Dear Editor I am thrilled to recycle but those of us who live in a rural setting can no longer recycle because of the public bins being removed.

Dear Editor

I am thrilled to recycle but  those of us who live in a rural setting can no longer recycle because of the public bins being removed. I called City Hall and the only way we can participate is to take our recyclables to the nuisance ground at a cost of $5.

Ideally I would like to accumulate and take a whole bunch at one time, but that is not doable as I don't own a truck nor have a storage area. I spoke with neighbours and they also will be unable to stockpile and take lots at one time.

This is sad in that we will just have to return to the burning barrel. I understand that the road out to the nuisance ground is famous for flat tires and that is certainly not an option either.  I called the RM, but they have no solution, at least at this time.

It was totally amazing how little actual garbage I had once I started the recycling.

I wish the City the best with the new program and the amount of money that can be saved is huge, apparently. Digging a hole for garbage to be dumped apparently requires a huge sum of money.
