By the time you read this the April Fool's goblins will have had their fun with everyone. I only hope there was no moose standing on the Waseca bridge and I hope there were no phone calls from Willie Whitefence, this year!

I'm still waiting for the crow snows, but the weather appears to be steady right now with lots of sun. This is great! Spring is around the corner, I think.

On the home front Eddy has the canola cleaned and we will be doing the wheat next. Son Ron is going to get the canola unloaded and we will be good to go for the next batch of events before spring hits us.

On the political front there is nothing much happening. The budgets have been submitted and everybody is mulling over the results. We will see what comes out of all the talking.

At home we have a male cat named "Linda." He was named by a little girl from Maidstone before he came to our place and we kept his name. He was supposed to be a "shop cat," but soon he worked his way into the house and Bev just let him stay in. He goes in and out from spring until winter, making like he is the great big hunter. But oh how he loves to be in the house during winter, even though he has a heated shop to go into with a heated cat bed. The problem here is that Bev has let him sleep on her side of the bed and that is right where he is at about 10:30 every night until morning!

We have lost two male cats that had calcium crystals in their urine, which is caused from cats being outside hunting and eating too many mice. One day he became quite lethargic and Bev noticed he had trouble passing his urine, so off to the vet they went. The overnight stay and a few tests revealed he did indeed have crystals in the bladder. So with medication for about 10 days and special cat food along with my empty wallet he was on his way back to his old self.

It was our daughter Melissa who questioned the water supply from the well having minerals and could this be part of the problem? So, we changed the cat watering bowl from well water to bottled distilled water, and, guess what? He is still with us two years later and going strong. Who would have thought?

The grandchildren are wonderful little artists and the fridge is covered with many drawings. Bev holds them on the fridge with alphabet letters from the grandkids' supply. Linda must think it is his sworn duty to clear those magnets and pictures off the bottom part of the fridge and chase them throughout the kitchen and dining room. It is quite a performance, every day!

On April 9 the RM of Eldon spring ratepayers meeting and supper is happening. Tickets are $10 per person, cocktails at 5:30 p.m., supper at 6 p.m. and the meeting to follow. Every councillor has tickets and you can also get them from the RM office. Hope to see you all there!

Joke of the week: A friend got into a hospital elevator with an orderly who was wheeling an elaborate machine. The device had several pipes, dials and gauges. "Man, I'd hate to be connected to that machine." "So would I", agreed the orderly. "It's a carpet shampooer!"
