20 vehicles impounded in P.A. traffic enforcement project

The Selective Traffic Enforcement Program took place on Aug. 20 and 21 at various locations in and around Prince Albert.

PRINCE ALBERT — A recent traffic enforcement project in Prince Albert resulted in more than 600 tickets and warnings handed out over two days.

Throughout the two days, there were 372 tickets and 248 warnings handed out. There were a total of 11 roadside suspensions, five testing positive for THC, two testing positive for cocaine, two testing positive for THC and cocaine and two roadside suspensions for alcohol. A total of 20 vehicles were impounded over the two days.

Two-hundred-forty-four Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) tests were administered throughout the project. There were also two incidents where a vehicle evaded police at a check stop.

Additionally, three criminal code warrants were executed and one person faces new criminal charges.

The Selective Traffic Enforcement Program took place on Aug. 20 and 21 at various locations in and around Prince Albert. The traffic enforcement project focuses on impaired driving, distracted driving, seat-belt use, speeding, unlicensed driving, vehicle registrations checks, and vehicle equipment regulations.

The Prince Albert Police Service Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan Unit (CTSS) completed the STEP with the assistance of SGI and multiple other law enforcement agencies from across Saskatchewan.
