PRINCE ALBERT – A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for a man who was shot trying to evict a tenant in Prince Albert.

Jim Premeau, 48, is now a paraplegic said Heather Primeau who is organizing the fundraiser.

“He's the kindest man, he's got an amazing sense of humour, extremely loving, and an avid dog lover,” she said on the GoFundMe. If anyone could donate and support him, I know it would be appreciated as he's still in hospital recovering from this incident on June 4.”

She said medical care and personal expenses will far exceed his ability to pay.

“Jim’s life is now irreparably changed,” said Heather. “He was shot in the throat and his spinal cord was shattered.”

Jim was placed in an induced coma for four days following the attack and spent 24 days on a ventilator. He still requires oxygen and lives with the uncertainty of whether he’ll ever be able to breathe independently again. The bullet fragments, lodged dangerously near his spine, can't be surgically removed.

Beyond the internal injuries, the force of his fall knocked out several front teeth, which will eventually need extensive dental repair. These are just the immediate needs in a long list of future medical and accessibility requirements.

Heather aid Jim is a registered breeder of Old English Bulldogs.

"He has nine of those babies waiting for him to come home," she said. "Jim loves those dogs, and they love him. He can't wait to see them again."
