Grandmother's Bay teen charged with second-degree murder

The victim, who was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMT, has been identified as 23-year-old Dillon Charles.

GRANDMOTHER'S BAY — A teen has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 23-year-old man.

On Aug. 2, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Stanley Mission RCMP received a report of an injured male at a residence on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band community of Grandmother’s Bay.

Responding, officers located a seriously injured male, who was later pronounced deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as 23-year-old Dillon Charles from Grandmother’s Bay. His family has been notified and victim services have been made available to them.

The death was considered suspicious, and a male teenager, who cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested at the scene. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is in charge of the investigation.

As a result of continued investigation, a male teenager from Grandmother’s Bay is charged with one count, second-degree murder. He appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on Aug. 5.
