SASKATOON — Stewart Williams of Prince Albert is $100,000 richer after winning the top Extra prize in the May 30 draw.
Williams discovered his win during a bout of insomnia. He had purchased his Western Max and Extra ticket using the Lotto Spot app and checked it on his phone.
“I had to look twice at the screen to be sure I was seeing it right,” he said. “My wife woke up and I showed her my phone—we’re just both in shock.”
“I’ve been buying on the Lotto Spot app for some time and my usual wins are maybe a couple bucks or a Free Play,” he chuckled. “I was definitely surprised.”
Williams matched the last six digits - 4915969 - of the Extra selection to claim the $100,000 prize. He said he plans to use the winnings to help his children through school.
