Three charged following traffic stop in Big River

BIG RIVER - Three people have been charged after Saskatchewan RCMP seized a significant amount of cash in Big River.

On June 9, officers with the La Ronge Crime Reduction Team were conducting proactive traffic stops on Highway 55 in Big River.

During a traffic stop, officers determined an adult male driver was operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s licence. Officers then located a small amount of cocaine in the vehicle. The driver and two adult female occupants were arrested. During an additional search of the vehicle, officers located and seized approximately $11,980 in cash.

As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old suspect, a 44-year-old suspect and another 26-year-old suspect, all from Clearwater River Dene Nation, are each charged with one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. 

The three accuseds are scheduled to appear in court in Big River on Aug. 12.
