EVANSBURG, Alta. – A Saskatchewan man wanted on multiple warrants was arrested in Alberta after Evansburg RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a local campground.

On July 17, officers investigating the complaint discovered a stolen vehicle and a 2014 Crossroads Travel trailer at the scene, taken from Acheson, Alta., just five days earlier. The suspect, identified as Joshua Stricker, 51, of Saskatoon, was taken into custody and found to have $10,000 in outstanding fines from previous warrants.

Stricker now faces charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order. He was remanded after a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain on July 23.

Cpl. Darren Ryan of Evansburg RCMP credited the arrest to an alert citizen’s tip.

“We would like to thank the public for taking the time to call in the suspicious vehicle” he said. “It is important for the public to call in suspicious activity so that we can better fight criminality within our communities and keep everyone and their hard-earned possessions safe."
