OUTLOOK — For the Luchenski family, insurance has always been more than a business — it’s a legacy built on service, trust and the values of small-town living. Now entering its third generation of ownership, Tom Agencies is celebrating a new chapter with the expansion of its operations into Outlook.

The family’s involvement in the industry stretches back 40 years. Tom’s father launched the business in 1984, and in 1997 Tom and his wife, Fran, took over the Lucky Lake office. Over the next decade they added branches in Dinsmore and Beechy, strengthening their presence in the region. Outlook was always a community they hoped to serve, and when the opportunity finally arrived, the timing couldn’t have been better.

As Tom and Fran planned for succession, their daughters, Kerri Luchenski and Karlee Kabatow, chose to step into the business after careers in health care and quickly became integral to the brokerage. Their decision to join solidified the company’s future and sparked discussions about growth.

With a strong team already in place across their existing offices, expansion felt like a natural next step. Outlook, with its growing economy and sense of momentum, stood out as the ideal choice. The acquisition of the Pederson Insurance office allowed Tom Agencies to plant new roots while preserving the reputation and client relationships already established there by the Pederson family originally, followed by Greg Ballek and Hope Martin.

The transition has been smooth, with all staff remaining in place and continuing to serve clients. Today, the Outlook branch is one of the busiest locations, offering a wide range of insurance products including home, farm, auto, commercial, health, travel, hail, boat and livestock, as well as motor licensing services. The Tom Agencies team’s expertise and commitment to ongoing education ensure clients receive trusted advice close to home.

While both Karlee and Kerri are committed to serving the communities where Tom Agencies operates, Outlook holds special meaning for Karlee, who now calls it home. For her, the community offers the perfect blend of opportunity and small-town warmth.

Community connection has always been at the heart of Tom Agencies. Tom and Fran were recognized with a community leadership award in 2023, and that spirit of involvement continues under the next generation. The family believes their business thrives when the communities they serve thrive.

“We strongly promote and engage in local events whenever we can,” Fran said.

Tom Agencies will celebrate the opening of its Outlook office with a grand opening event on Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 108 Saskatchewan Avenue. Guests can enjoy a BBQ, door prizes and the chance to meet the Tom Agencies team.

From its beginnings in 1984 to its expansion today, the Luchenski family’s story is one of continuity and growth.

“It started with my dad in 1984,” Tom reflected. “And now we’re seeing the third generation take the lead.”

Tom Agencies looks ahead to the future while staying grounded in the values that have defined it for four decades: service, community and integrity.
