CP Holiday Train brings donations and a show

Performances by the Anyway Gang draws residents and visitors to Wilkie and Macklin to help support local food banks.

Not being able to travel for the past few years, the CP Holiday Train was able to get back on track this year.

Stops were made in Wilkie and Macklin on Dec. 6, where the band Anyway Gang performed for the many spectators that came out for the show. Donations of cash and food were collected in both communities for the local food banks.

Andria Gutting announced on social media that Wilkie and area raised $1,287 in donations with 440 pounds of food.

Neil Burwash from Macklin said their food bank had $805 in donations with 360 pounds of food, along with $1,400 from the hot dog sale that was organized by the Delta Co-op.

Each community food bank also receives a $3,000 donation from CP Rail. Burwash added that he was pleased with the turn out and the support they received.
