LUSELAND – The Luseland Bible Camp is reaching out to the public, hoping to raise funds for the camp.
In 2022, the camp was able to raise enough money to build four new cabins for the summer visitors. However, in just a short two years, those cabins have become unstable.
Board member Tomi Watt said harsh weather has weakened the blocks that are underneath all four of the cabins, creating unstable foundations. If the cabins go unfixed, the 2024 season of camp will have to be cancelled for many youths.
Repairs will cost nearly $30,000 for all the cabins, along with an additional $20,000 to pay camp expenses such as groceries, insurance and preparatory work. The board is hoping to receive enough donations to get the work completed before the first week of camp on July 1.
A donation the camp did receive was a hip-roof Quonset, which the board would like to use as the chapel, as the dining hall and kitchen are in the current chapel building.
The Luseland Bible Camp has been operating for over 90 years, hosting various age groups throughout the summer months. Organizers create special days and activities, as well as teach key Bible stories. The camp is not just a camp though, as many of the schools in the surrounding communities have often travelled to the grounds for year-end trips.
