UCHS sends 13 athletes to provincial track and field

One provincial gold medal, four top eight placings and a number of personal bests achieved.

UNITY — The Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association provincial track and field meet was held June 3-4, with 13 Unity Composite High School athletes qualiying for a number of events in the competition.

UCHS team members included Molly Orobko, Halle Ducherer, Camara Brown, Dawson Rusk, Ethan Bertoia, Zayden Wagner, Garrett Brebner, De La Ray Els, Ethan Stifter, Steyn Hoogstad, Xander Tiffin, Logan Middleton and Graden Rusk.

Achieving personal bests were Camara Brown (100 metres), Zayden Wagner (1500m), Garrett Brebner (1500m), Steyn Hoogstad (javelin), Xander Tiffin, (200m), Graden Rusk (1500m and 3000m) and Ethan Stifter (high jump, long jump, javelin and shot put).

Top eight placings for UCHS athletes included a gold medal for Ethan Stifter in shot put as well as a fifth place in javelin. Dawson Rusk fifth in 4 x 100m relay. Halle Ducherer eigth in 4 x100m relay and Camara Brown eight in 4x100 relay.

Coaches Ms. Van De Meutter, Mrs. Orobko and Mrs. Gartner said, “The weather conditions were awesome, and the athletes did very well. For most of the athletes, this was their first time being at a provincial meet.”

The coaches add that they are already looking forward to next track season.
