UCHS Warrior football returns to the field

After a one year pandemic-prescribed hiatus, the UCHS Warrior football team are ready for their season to begin

UNITY - Unity Composite High School Warrior Football is ready to hit the turf in this year’s SHSAA football season. The Warriors will once again compete in the six-man football league, with six teams in their division - Eatonia, Kerrobert, Kindersley, Macklin and Wilkie.

The team will be coached by Kyle Clark, Rob Cey and Graeme Gieni.

The Warriors starting quarterback is Braedon Coons who will lead 21 players on the team’s roster.

As has become tradition, Unity will host a night lights game, although not on a Friday this year. However, it will include familiar rivals, the Wilkie Broncs, and will be played on Thursday, Sept. 23.

“At this point, we are playing football with no COVID-19 restrictions and fans are absolutely allowed to be in attendance,” Coach Clark  says.

The Warriors will host three home games this year that include a Sept. 3 exhibition game against Kindersley, the Sept. 23 night game vs. the Wilkie Broncs and a return of the Broncs to Warrior field Oct. 7.

After the regular season is completed, the Warriors will learn of the conference playoff schedule and their goal is to be competitive throughout league season giving them momentum as they play into playoff season, which beings Oct. 23.

Grade 12 players this year include Ashton Fauth, Xander Tiffin, Braden Ward and Braedon Coons.
