UNITY — We have received a preliminary verbal report on the curling rink. The Engineers have mentioned three beams that need to be repaired along with some of the purloins connecting the beams. Once we have the final report with the estimated cost we will decide on a plan of action.
The construction on First Avenue is scheduled to start in April at the west end of town.
I attended the last West Central meeting via zoom. We heard from Saskatchewan Chief Coroner Clive Weighill. The role of a coroner is not to pronounce death but to investigate and determine cause. They work in conjunction with the RCMP. If you think you may be interested in becoming a coroner, training is provided initially and on an ongoing basis. Staff has been working on our budget for the year. Please expect an increase in the mill rate. We are probably looking in the area of a two to three mill increase. We may have some quiet years ahead as far as construction goes to allow for the inflationary impact on the First Aveue project and the repairs needed to make the curling rink available for use. We also have basic infrastructure needs that must be addressed in the coming years. We will be working on the plans to tackle this over the next few months.
Council members will be attending the SUMA Convention in Saskatoon the middle of April. It's a great opportunity to speak with other communities about issues we're all facing and share possible solutions.

Hopefully, you were able to take part in Family Day activities at the museum. Their Sunday morning breakfast at the Adanac Hall continues until the end of April.
On March 6 we'll meet in person to celebrate Unity. This is our opportunity to acknowledge those who provide the services that keep our community thriving. We would be lost without them.
