Unity Western Days kicks off naming 2022 Citizen of the year

Longtime Unity resident, Don Robertson, is Unity's 2022 Citizen of the Year.

UNITY — Unity Western Days kicked off their weekend event with a roast beef supper that included a program to name the 2022 Citizen of the Year. The Unity Agroplex was buzzing with excitement as people are welcoming back the event that has been absent since 2019, due to the pandemic.

UWD committee reviewed nominations collected for the annual announcement for the community's citizen of the year. Longtime resident and former town councillor, Don Robertson, was announced as the 2022 recipient. An outline of Robertson's accomplishments was read out at the banquet and will be included in another story as details become available.

The UWD weekend will include a number of events and activities topped off by rodeo performances both Saturday and Sunday, as well as the popular rodeo cabaret on June 4. Eleven local participants will be part of rodeo action. UWD rodeo queen will be crowned at the Sunday rodeo performance.
