Outstanding performers for the Unity Speed Swimming Club in a meet at Biggar included Janet Duchscher, Bill Thomas, Bradley Wright, Blair Wagner, Tim Leier and Noreen Duchscher.

The new roof at the Unity Community Centre was composed of 132,500 pounds of shingles and 1,500 pounds of nails. Bast Construction were the contractors for the roofing job, while fresh paint, inside and out, was applied by high school students and members of the Unity midget baseball team.

Unity Girl Guides enjoyed a visit to Al Oeming’s Alberta Game Farm, located near Edmonton.

The first Saskatchewan Summer Games were announced, to be held in Moose Jaw at the end of August. Zone playoffs in 17 sports, including water skiing, field hockey and full bore shooting, would be held at the end of July and beginning of August.

Town of Wilkie council passed a motion to purchase 1000 Prairie Springs Mineral Spa shares, valued at $100,000. Councillors were looking forward to the economic growth completion of the spa would give to the town and district.

The RM of Grass Lake passed a motion declaring the municipality a disaster area due to the extreme drought.

Ed Robertson of Denzil and Betty Housen and J.P. Boser of Unity brought home gold medals in golf after competing in the provincial senior games at North Battleford. Frank Hoffart won silver.

Unity Motor Products was advertising the latest model GMC Sierra extended cab for $28,418 cash or $464 a month on a 36-month lease.
