Watering restrictions in Wilkie from May to September

Pool fundraising efforts continue, with Johner concert up next.

WILKIE — Town Council is in final budget preparations. No major projects are being scheduled in 2022 with the exception of the completion of some storm sewer relining which began last fall and the development of a Downtown Market Square. The town has applied for funding for a new outdoor swimming pool. At this time we don’t know when we will be notified if we are successful with our application but we will certainly keep the public informed.

The Wilkie and District Culture Parks and Recreation Board is hosting another fundraising event with proceeds going towards a new swimming pool. The Johner Brothers Concert is being held June 11. This is meant to be a family event with a cabaret to follow the concert. Tickets will be $25 each and are available at the Wilkie town office or by calling 306-843-2692.

The Wilkie Centennial Scholarship is now open to all 2022 McLurg graduates. Application forms were dropped off at the high school but are also available at the town office.  This year’s scholarship amount is $2,200.

Just a reminder to residents that water restrictions began May 1 and run until Sept. 30. Outdoor watering is permitted from 6 p.m. until 11 a.m., this means no watering is allowed between the hours of 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Wilkie Brewers, Wilkie Minor Ball and Wilkie Soccer Association have all begin their seasons. We wish them all successful and fun seasons.

I wish all the farmers a safe planting season and hope everyone gets out to enjoy the warmer weather.
